LIFE IN THE CHURCH/GESTURE
The following is a sample list of topics included in the three year curriculum for the 3, 4, & 5/6 year old. Through hands-on presentations and activities, the children learn more about things they see and experience during the Divine Liturgy. After practicing gestures, prayers, and hymns in the children's room, they feel more at home and more confident in church.
The Sign of The Cross
The children practice making the sign of the cross and saying the Trinitarian Prayers with it.
Lighting a Candle
The children practice safely lighting a candle and understand why we do so.
Venerating an Icon
The children practice venerating icons. They also polish and decorate icons with flowers.
Gesture of Cupped Hands
The children practice receiving anditheron into cupped hands.
Receiving the Blessing of the Priest
The children practice approaching the Priest for a blessing.
